The Georgia Institute for Tourism Development has taken the initiative to introduce a hotel tax for guests of the country.

According to the BMG TV channel on Facebook (owner of the Meta company, recognized as an extremist in the Russian Federation and banned), the institute’s specialists propose to set the rate at 1 lari (about 35 rubles) per person per day for hotel accommodation. local. The money received in this way is supposed to be transferred to the city budget for its arrangement and gardening.

According to the calculations of the Gruzinsky Vestnik Telegram channel, thanks to such a collection, the Batumi treasury could be replenished with 4-6 million lari only in 2023. At the same time, the authors of the publication believe that the tax can be introduced in one or two years.
