State Duma deputy from the Communist Party faction Mikhail Matveev prepared a bill to deprive foreigners of Russian citizenship for crimes against life and liberty, sexual integrity and sexual freedom of the individual.
The document published in the electronic database of the Duma proposes to increase the list of crimes, the commission of which entails the termination of Russian citizenship. Therefore, it is proposed to add the articles “Murder”, “Intentionally inflicting serious bodily harm” and others to the Federal Law of April 28, 2023 No. 138-FE “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”.
As indicated in the explanatory note of the bill, in addition to crimes of a terrorist nature and crimes against the State, crimes against life and health, as well as crimes against sexual integrity and sexual freedom of the person , must also constitute the basis for deprivation of citizenship.
The deputy explained the need to expand the list, saying that the number of crimes committed by visitors from the countries of the former USSR and who have received Russian citizenship is constantly growing.
