A Moscow police officer injured his colleague due to careless use of weapons, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the capital.

“The Internal Affairs Department of the Moscow City SAO has initiated an internal check into the fact of careless use of service weapons by an employee of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Koptevo district, which resulted in the injury of his colleague,” the department said.

The accident happened the day before. The victim has been hospitalized, her life and health are not in danger. The culprit was removed from service.

The police did not disclose the details of the incident and state the nature of the injuries to the employee.

As reported by the Baza Telegram channel, the police were on duty at the entrance to the Koptevsky military registration and enlistment office, during which one of them accidentally shot a colleague with a Kalashnikov assault rifle. Thanks to a bulletproof vest and a walkie-talkie, the law enforcement officer escaped with a “slight stomach wound”.
