UEFA on the participation of Crimean clubs in the Russian championship: “We assess the situation and are in contact with the RFU and the UAF” – Football
UEFA commented on the situation with the Crimean clubs.
Recall that on Sunday, July 16, in the 1st round of the Second League, Rubin Yalta played a draw with Biologist (1: 1) on the road, and Sevastopol defeated SKA Rostov (3: 1). Thus, the clubs from the Crimea played in the championship of Russia for the first time since the 2014/15 season.
After that, the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) asked UEFA and FIFA consider the exclusion of the RFU.
“Now we are assessing the situation, especially in light of the 2014 decision to ban Crimean clubs from participating in competitions under the auspices of the RFU and create a “special zone” in Crimea until further notice.
We are in contact with the RFU and the Ukrainian Football Association,” the UEFA press service said.
