The State Duma allowed the Russian Guard to have military equipment in service | In Russia | Politics

The State Duma on Wednesday approved a bill on the right of the Russian Guard to have military equipment, including heavy equipment, in service. This was reported by the press service of the lower house of parliament.

The document replaces the term “weapon” used in the law with the term “weapon”, which implies a set of weapons and technical means for their use. Also, the term “military equipment” will be replaced by “military equipment”, which refers to various technical means of equipping troops for combat and everyday tasks.

Additionally, the law permits the National Guard to use physical force, special equipment, weapons, as well as military and specialty equipment. For example, employees of National Guard troops will be able to use such equipment to free hostages and protect citizens, provide security during riots and in emergencies, as well as in other situations.

Recall that at the end of June, the head of the National Guard Viktor Zolotov said that the department would receive heavy weapons and tanks. Later it became known that there was no question of transferring PMC Wagner equipment to the troops of the National Guard. The equipment should be purchased under the state defense order.
