The FIG allowed the Russians to compete in international competitions in a neutral status.
“The Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has decided to allow under strict conditions the participation of athletes and personnel from Russia and Belarus in events marked in the FIG calendar as individual neutral athletes without any connection with the Russian Federation or Belarus, national federations or national Olympic committees,” the organization said in a statement.
An athlete wishing to become an Individual Neutral Athlete must submit an application to FIG in accordance with specific rules.
If the status is approved, the athlete will be able to compete under the auspices of FIG from January 1, 2024.
The decision on admission to the Olympic Games will be made by the International Olympic Committee, the FIG press service reports.
