In Russia they propose to create a single abbreviated number to call an emergency community band

The director of the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Policy Problems, Anton Orlov, turned to the head of the Ministry of Construction, Irek Fayzullin, with the initiative to introduce a single federal short number for calling emergency services for housing and communal services (HCS).

According to the political scientist, the country now has a single 112 number, through which residents of any region can contact the police, firefighters, ambulance and 24-hour emergency gas service. At the same time, there is no such short number in case of such accidents as the rupture of water supply pipes and the shutdown of heating in winter.

Currently, each municipality has its own standard number for calling the emergency dispatch service of housing and communal services. But not everyone can remember it, and it is not always possible to find it quickly in an emergency. Because of this, the property can be severely damaged, which could have been prevented by seeking help immediately.

Therefore, Orlov considers it necessary to create in the Russian Federation a single universal short number for calling emergency services.

This idea was skeptically assessed by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services Pavel Kachkaev. He recalled that the number 112, entered through the service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, “is already working and is understandable and clear to everyone.” And confusion will arise if “we start dividing it into utilities or housing services.”
