The State Duma approved an amendment on the renaming of the school subject safety of life | Education | Society

The State Duma passed an amendment to rename the school subject “Fundamentals of Security and Life” (OBZH) to “Fundamentals of Homeland Security and Defense”. This was reported by the Tass news agency.

The amendment was introduced in the second reading of the bill on the compulsory involvement of schoolchildren in community work, which MEPs adopted on Thursday in the second and third readings.

As State Duma member Sergei Kolunov said earlier, labor education lessons will not only help children adapt in adulthood, but also instill in them respect for other people’s work.

As for the Fundamentals of Homeland Security and Defense, they will be introduced in schools in stages, as reported by the head of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov.
