Members of the New People party consider it necessary to introduce a system of progressive fines for motorists in the Russian Federation.
During a meeting with the Minister of Transport of Russia Vitaly Savelyev, the head of the faction Alexei Nechaev said that parliamentarians are already developing a bill on this issue. According to his plan, the new system will have more discounts.
In particular, drivers who do not commit violations during the year will be able to receive a discount of approximately 50% on the transportation tax. Motorists who are “caught” on the first offense will receive a warning.
At the same time, those who break the rules systematically (for example, more than 20 times a year), will have the amount of the fine increased. As Nechaev explained, this should be done because “serial offenders are not afraid of 500 ruble fines.”
