State Duma deputies from the LDPR party have developed a bill banning the sale of alcoholic beverages in supermarkets.
According to parliamentarians, alcohol should be sold only in specialized stores, where no other merchandise will be presented, except for alcohol. The authors of the initiative explained that thanks to this approach it will be possible to exclude spontaneous purchases of alcohol and, in general, reduce the volume of alcohol consumption among the population.
In addition, as the deputy head of the LDPR faction Yaroslav Nilov said, with the introduction of such a practice, the number of counterfeit products sold and cases of alcohol sales to minors will decrease, because they will be prohibited from entering these special stores.
At the same time, Alexei Didenko, a member of the lower house of the Russian parliament, stressed that the law can provide an exception for sparsely populated areas and remote areas where only one retail facility operates.
