The Commissioner for Children’s Rights of the Republic of Tatarstan, Irina Volynets, appealed to Olga Kazakova, Chairman of the State Duma Education Committee, with the initiative to introduce a deferral of military service for graduates of pedagogical schools and universities working in schools.
In the document, the Ombudsman’s Office drew attention to the fact that male teachers should be an example of correct behavior for children. Volynets believes that the country needs to prepare a set of measures that will help increase the number of men working in educational institutions.
One of those measures, in his opinion, could be a deferment from the army for those who work in schools. In addition, he believes that the work of a teacher could be equated with an alternative service.
Volynets asked the parliamentarian to support his proposal and draw up a bill amending the Federal Law No. 53-FZ of March 28, 1998 “On Military Duty and Military Service”.
