A rattlesnake that swallowed a mouse along with a mousetrap was able to survive thanks to the help of specialists.
An unusual incident occurred in the American city of Hispaniola, located in the state of New Mexico. Cottonwood Rehab posted a photo of the reptile on social media showing the corners of the trap sticking out of its belly. The authors of the post in the caption noted that the snake caught the mouse, but “did not understand that it was trapped in a mousetrap.”
To save the reptile, the veterinarians performed a surgical operation. It turned out that together with the mouse, he swallowed a mousetrap measuring 10 by 4 cm, it is not known how long such a “surprise” was inside the snake. It is observed that when the foreign object was removed from the body of the snake, the mouse was intact. Considering that snakes need 3-5 days to fully digest their prey, the rodent was most likely recently swallowed.
