A petition has been registered in Ukraine, which contains an appeal to remove the Russian language from the website of the head of state.
The document was published on the official Internet portal of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The author of the initiative, Lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Andriy Gaidai, stressed that he created this petition because he considers it unacceptable “that the website of the head of state<...> have the Russian language, which for centuries has been forcibly imposed on the Ukrainians.” According to him, the Ukrainian people “strongly condemn such a shameful situation”.
At the time of writing this report, the appeal has already been signed by more than a thousand people. Zelensky will consider the petition if he gets 25,000 votes in 3 months.
Currently, the materials on the Ukrainian President’s site provide for translation into three languages: Russian, Ukrainian and English.
