Few can deny they have been moved by Deborah James’ heartbreaking revelation that she is now receiving end of life care in light of her terminal bowel cancer. The podcaster told her followers she does not know “how long I’ve got left” as she said there was nothing more that could be done to save her.
But one person for whom the news has hit particularly hard is Kate Middleton, given that she is the same age as Deborah and they are both hands on, devoted mothers to young children.
Royal Expert Jennie Bond exclusively told OK!: “I’m sure that Kate will identify with her. They’re exactly the same age, she’s got children. Just like so many people, her heart must really be going out to Deborah.”

After Deborah’s brave statement, the presenter’s fundraising efforts have hit an astounding £4 million and counting and she was also made a Dame by Her Majesty The Queen.
Kate, 40, and her husband William, 39, also made a rare personal, public statement about Deborah’s fight. Their heartfelt message read: “Every now and then, someone captures the heart of the nation with their zest for life & tenacious desire to give back to society. @bowelbabe is one of those special people.”
It continued: “Her tireless efforts to raise awareness of bowel cancer & end the stigma of treatment are inspiring. We are so sad to hear of her recent update.”
It concluded: “Deborah, our thoughts are with you, your family and your friends. Thank you for giving hope to so many who are living with cancer.”
The touching message was signed “W & C” which indicates it came directly from Kate and William themselves. And this rare outspokenness was significant, says Jennie.
“William and Catherine’s social media post shows they are in touch with what is going on outside of palace walls. I was delighted to see it. It wasn’t perfunctory, they didn’t just make a donation, it wasn’t just a small message, it was heartfelt and beautiful and I imagine it will mean the world to Deborah.”
Jennie also believes that Kate, particularly, will feel moved by Deborah’s story given the similarities that the pair share. They are both 40 years old and while Kate has three children, Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six and 3-year-old Prince Louis, Deborah shares 12-year-old Eloise and 14-year-old Hugo with her husband Sebastian Bowen.
Jennie says: “I’m sure that Kate will identify with her. They’re exactly the same age, she’s got children. Just like so many people, her heart must really be going out to Deborah and she wanted to pay tribute and that’s quite something.’
She added that she believed Deborah would have been “overwhelmed” by the message. “It was very compassionate. They’re forging ahead as very likeable and not too stuffy for a future King and Queen.”
