M6 northbound reopens near Manchester after serious crash between car and lorry – recap

The M6 northbound has reopened between junctions 27 and 28 following a serious crash between a car and a lorry. Emergency services attended the scene.

Motorists had been advised to avoid the area, and a diversion was in place.

In an update an 2.10am on Sunday morning, traffic information service Inrix said: “All lanes open, accident cleared on M6 Northbound from J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road (Standish) to J28 B5256 Leyland Way (Leyland).”

National Highways: North-West added: “All lanes are now open and the scene is clear. Have a safe onward journey.”

There was no information immediately available on the circumstances surrounding the collision, including whether there were any resulting injuries.
