Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said the country is interested in effective diplomatic cooperation with Russia, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the minister, the military presence of the Russian Federation in neighboring Syria has a “stabilizing effect” on the situation in the Middle East region.

Safadi said this during a speech at the Woodrow Wilson Research Center in Washington.

The head of the foreign ministry stressed that the Russian presence does not allow extremist groups to reinstate their forces both on the Syrian-Jordanian border and in a wider regional context.
